About Episode The Dukes get ready to rip and tear through another set of video games news and releases! Joining us is honorary Duke, Gene Park, to talk about the latest game out of iD Software in DOOM: The Dark Ages. It's the third entry in iD's modern reboot of the franchise and, as always, they've taken a new approach to things. DOOM: The Dark Ages places a shield in your hands and asks you to "stand and fight." How does this feel in comparison to DOOM Eternal's lightning fast combat or the more deliberate nature of DOOM 2016? It finds itself in the middle as all three Dukes have different takes on this one. Its combat, story, enemy variety, pacing, traversal, level design. All of them speak to us (or not) in ways that really highlight this isn't iD's best DOOM, but it's not their worst. It finds itself in the middle and, by the finale, feels like the series has run out of gas. So, what does this team of talented FPS developers do next? Is it time for Quake? Naturally, we discuss all of that and much more. Please keep in mind that our timestamps are approximate, and will often be slightly off due to dynamic ad placement. 0:00:00 - Intro0:16:50 - Health is Wealth0:31:02 - GTA 6 Update0:34:38 - Should Xbox have held the Gears announcement?0:48:15 - Fallout Season 2 drops in December1:00:06 - DOOM: The Dark Ages physical copy debacle1:10:28 - Oblivion Remastered’s continuous issues1:23:26 - Xbox returning to back compat focus?1:37:54 - GTA IV Remaster inbound?1:46:43 - Mafia: The Old Country release date and pricing1:54:21 - Will Borderlands 4 jump for $80?2:07:47 - Marvel 1943: Rise Of Hydra has been delayed to 20262:11:09 - Capcom is doing better than we understand2:21:09 - Square Enix’s rough financials2:30:39 - Warner Bros Games revenue is in the tubes2:32:13 - Doom: The Dark Ages3:33:16 - What We’re Playing4:00:05 - Game Pass Pick Of The Week Learn more about your ad choices. 5. Complete Global Saturation: Episode 5 - Resident Evil 6 - Feat. Gene Park -..

About Episode In this episode, Alex and Rob are joined by Washington Post Game Journalist Gene Park. Together we take a trip back to Tall Oaks, Lanshiang, and Edonia as Resident Evil 6 is revisited in all its glory. After an intro with Gene on his history of gaming and how he ended up writing coverage of videogames for The Washington Post in recent years, a breakdown of the development history of Resident Evil 6 leads us into the deeper breakdown of the games design itself. Diving into both shows us why it was both such a failure upon release - and somehow now recently redeemed itself as an unexpected success for Capcom in recent years. Alex and Rob haven't always been the biggest fans of this very divisive title, but know it has a fan base and Gene certainly reminds us why - to the point where all of us and hopefully you listening will be reminded of why Resident Evil 6 was such a unique title and one even possibly worth revisiting. Join us as we talk through all of this and more on this episode of Complete Global Saturation! This 12 episode limited podcast series is a follow up to Alex Aniel's book, 'Itchy, Tasty: A Unofficial History of Resident Evil' - which covers the first decade of the series from its origins in the early 1990s through to 2006. The book is available online at the usual retailers, in bookstores, or can be purchased directly from Alex's website - www.cvxfreak.com - which you can also have signed by Alex. Future episodes will cover other games in the decade or so beyond all in aid of looking into topics Alex will cover for an eventual follow up charting more direct history of the rest of the series, and some special guests will join us from time to time to talk about the series. Please feel free to subscribe, review, and share - and any questions can be put alongside wherever this is posted and we will try to return to these in a future episode. MORE Podcast Title Complete Global Saturation: An Unofficial History Of Resident Evil - Vol 2
