I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis at age 14. Soon after I had my first ostomy placed. I had the 3 part surgery which ended in my Colon being removed and a J-Pouch being placed. I lived with a J-pouch for 5 years until a severe complication during my first pregnancy called for a second ostomy to be placed. I now live a full and fulfilled life with my beautiful family. Diagnosed at the age of 49, Mandy chose to forego chemotherapy against her doctor's wishes, but did receive radiation and life altering surgery in February of 2018.
